Frank E. Dulapa, Age 99 of Warren, died Monday, May 7, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born October 6, 1918 in Flint, Michigan, son of the late Edward and the late Veronica (nee: Kata) Dulapa. The proud son of Polish immigrants, Frank and his family would eventually make their way to Hamtramck in the early 1920's. He attended St. Florian Grade School, and graduated from Hamtramck High School, the Class of 1937. He then went on to attend the University of Detroit on a basketball scholarship and was both a teammate & friend of All-American, Bob Calihan, of whom the U of D basketball arena now bears his name. Frank received his Bachelors Degree in accounting in 1941.World War II had just broken out which led Frank to enlist in the U.S. Navy. Soon afterwards, he was sent to Japan. Perhaps it was merely a coincidence, but it wasn't too long after Frank enlisted that the Japanese surrendered. Upon returning from the war, Frank began his career in the insurance industry and went to work in downtown Detroit. It was there that he met his wife, Patricia Allen. The two were married in 1950 at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe. They settled in on Detroit's east side, joined St. Matthew's parish, and raised their five children. With the kids now grown and out of the house, Frank & Pat moved to Warren where he began a new chapter in his life accepting a position with London United Investments overseeing their U.S. operations. This afforded Frank & Pat the opportunity to travel throughout the U.S. and Europe, frequently flying aboard the Concorde and sailing on the Q.E.II. He would retire in 1990 at the age of 72.Frank enjoyed travel and fine dining,…but his greatest joy was, simply, spending time with his loved ones making those special memories to last a lifetime. He had a profound impact on them all and touched each of their lives deeply, from his five beautiful children to his 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Frank was, truly, one in a million. Frank was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Marion "Pat". Dearest father of Judy (Bob) Kiessel, Tim Dulapa, Mary Pat (Rick) Benton, Tom (Sheila) Dulapa and Michael (Dana) Dulapa.
