Edmund Joseph Hippe age 84 of Warren, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at his home surrounded by family members. Edmund was born November 12, 1925 in Holly, Michigan the son of the late Edmund Joseph Hippe and the late Pauline (nee: Owiesny) Hippe. He was born and raised in Holly where he and his family lived on their farm. Edmund served in the Army during World War II. Edmund received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in the Philippines while in the Army. He was in the hospital for 15 months due to these injuries. He later worked for the Department of Defense where he was a Missile Engineer. Edmund was also very active in the VFW. He was a longtime member at Post 4404 in Hamtramck where he was the Past Commander and Quarter Master. Most recently he was a member at the Menge Post. His interests included traveling, bowling, and the Polka Boosters. His family will always remember him as a kind and good hearted person. He is survived by his siblings, Patricia Bagnowski, Robert (Marie Ann) Hippe, John (Diane) Hippe, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Alexandra, his father Edmund Hippe, and his mother Pauline Owiesny, and siblings, Gloria Warden, Sylvia Lukowski, Thomas W. Hippe, Rose Nickowski, and Donald Hippe. Visitation for Mr. Hippe will be held Friday 3-9 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Scripture Service at D. S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile Road) He will lie in state Saturday 9:30 a.m. at St. Sylvester Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
