David Allen Austin, age 59, died on April 7, 2020, in Warren, Michigan, just 2 days after his mother, Nancy. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 2, 1960 to the late Walter Austin and the late Nancy (nee; Pomaville) Austin.
Growing up in East Detroit, David passed through Grant Junior High School on his way to East Detroit High School from where he proudly graduated. For many years, David was a loyal and dedicated employee at Sears where he worked as a stock handler. Together with his fellow co-workers, the store was always well-equipped with product to market and sell. David took great pride in a job well done, and always tried to put his best foot forward.
When it came to his favorite things to do, an annual event that always topped David’s list was the Woodward Dream Cruise. He loved the Old Classics and the history that surrounded their existence amid the host of vehicles that came out of the Motor Capital of the world. Especially when it was warm & sunny, nothing could beat the sound of being around all of that machinery and the many car lovers in which to share the experience.
David was also quite fond of hanging out at the campgrounds and sharing in the company with all of his family. Nothing says fun quite like roasting marshmallows and hot dogs around a roaring campfire with family and friends, and sharing stories. Another hangout he loved frequenting was the Crossroads Clubhouse in Warren. A community activities center where residents and friends congregated to play games and pass the time together was one of David’s favorite places,…kind of his home away from home.
Yet of all the activities he liked the most, there was something extra special about hanging with his Mom and sisters on their Saturday outings. Whatever the plan or the agenda held, David simply enjoyed each and every moment shared in their company and the wonderful memories they created together.
A loving son, brother and uncle, David was adored by all who knew him,…especially his biggest fans, his many loving nieces and nephews. Twenty-five in all, they cherished their uncle and made memories together to last a lifetime. Yet not merely in they alone, David also touched countless others along life’s way and made his own unique impact upon their hearts and souls. He leaves our presence far too soon, but not without imparting the best of himself in so many ways. He will be missed beyond expression and loved beyond measure.
He was the beloved son of the late Nancy Austin. Loving brother of Donald, Douglas (Debie), Daniel (Danielle), Debbie (Pat Parent) Austin, and Dawn (David) Hutton. Devoted Uncle of Melissa Kirkland, Jason Austin, Justin Austin, Joshua Austin, Jamie Austin, Daniel Jr. (Heather) Austin, Gabrielle Austin, Danielle Provost, Austin (Morgan) Hutton, Jacob Hutton, Rebekah Hutton, and Great Uncle of 14. Nephew of Carol (Gordie) Sampson, Judith (Bill) Sturgis, Rick Pomaville, the late Bob (Mary) Pomaville, the late Tom (Olga) Pomaville, and the late Jerry (Elaine) Pomaville. He was also survived by many other family members and friends.
