Cynthia Leigh Blalock

Cynthia Leigh Blalock, 53 of Eastpointe, died Thursday, April 09, 2009 at her home in Eastpointe. Cindy was born January 29, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late William Elvis Blalock and the late Barbara (nee: Andrus) Blalock. She was raised in Detroit and Warren and attended Assumption Grotto school and later graduated from Cousino High School in Warren, the class of 1974. During high school and after she worked at and managed her families B & B Restaurant on Groesbeck Highway. Cindy would eventually move to Arizona and then Texas where she received her Bachelors degree in elementary education. She taught in Texas and eventually moved back to Michigan to teach at St. Angela Catholic grade school in Roseville for over 5 years. When St. Angela school closed Cindy decided to change professions and studied to become a medical assistant. Her last job was working for Northwood Physicians, PC in Berkley. This medical background helped her care for her father until the end of his life in 2008. Cindy was an individual full of life and known for her dramatic style. She will be remembered as the Auntie Mame to her family, and also the devotion and love given to her family members, nieces and nephews. Cindy had a passion for life, gardening, teaching, windsurfing, and taking in stray cats. Cynthia Leigh Blalock is survived by her dear siblings; Janet Phillips, Nanci (Dennis) Gonzales, Gregory (Michell), and the late Donald Blalock. She is also the loving aunt of Frank (Libby) Raab, Wesley Phillips, Colleen (Jay) Babbitt, Kirsten (Jeff) Gnippe, Christopher, Samantha, and great-aunt of ; Jocelyn, Tristan, Bryce, Koen, and Cooper. Cindy was predeceased by her parents William and Barbara Blalock. Visitation for Cindy will be Monday from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 mile). Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 11:30 am at the Funeral Home. Officiating the services will be Rev. David Hutsko. Please share memories at Cindy's guest book.
