Regina Ruth (Olney) Garcia, age 61, of Wapato, WA passed away on January 14, 2017 at her home. She was born on March 5, 1955 to Marvin A. Olney and Ellen Ruth Adams in Santa Monica, CA. While living in Santa Monica Regina attended Catholic school with her sisters until she was 14 years old. In 1969 her father Marvin A. Olney and her sisters Sonny Olney and Leah Marie Olney-Rodriguez all moved to Washington State. They settled in Wapato, WA where Regina and her sisters all went to public school.
On October 15, 1973 she married the love of her life Joseph L. Garcia. Regina was a homemaker who loved to cook, play Yahtzee and rummy, make knitted blankets for her family members and go to the casino. Most of all, however, Regina loved to hang around with her sons; her daughter-in-law; and her 3 grandchildren.
Regina is survived by her 2 sons, Christopher (Maria) Garcia and Joseph L. Garcia II both of Wapato; her 3 grandchildren, Tatyanna Delgado of Fresno, CA, Mia Rose Garcia and Joseph L. Garcia III both of Wapato; her 2 nephews, Michael (Nikkie) Coleman and Silvio Olney both of Yakima; brother-in-law Pete Rodriguez of Yakima; and her extended family and friends. Regina was preceded in death by husband, Joseph L. Garcia Sr.; her father, Marvin A. Olney; her mother, Ellen Ruth Adams; her sisters, Sonny Olney and Leah Marie Olney-Rodriguez; her aunt, Georgie Kreisa; and her niece Linda Rebollero.
Also a special thanks to Nico and Darlene Salamanca for helping with food and all the support they gave to the family. We would also like to send a special thank you to Gilbert and Alicia Patterson and Mary Rebollero and Everett Preciado for their support and help they have given to our family. Our family is very grateful for all the help and love everyone has given. Regina we will never forget you and you will always be in our hearts. We love you and we will all miss you.
A visitation will be held at Merritt Funeral Home on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 3-7:00 p.m. with the Vigil starting at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church on Friday, January 20, 2017 starting at 10:00 a.m. with the burial to follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park. Merritt Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
