Betty Louise (Russell) Scott on June 7, 1944 in Winfield, Kansas. They spent 71 wonderful years
together.
Bernard spent most of his life on the Medicine Valley Ranch. In October of 1954, the Scott family
began a dairy business on the White Swan Ranch and Medicine Valley Ranch. They later sold the dairy
business in June of 1957, but remained on the ranches running a cattle business.
In April of 1963, Bernard's parents sold the Medicine Valley Ranch to Bernard and Betty, and The
White Swan Ranch to Bernard's brother Richard (Jean) Scott. They ran the Medicine Valley Ranch
until 1995. At that time, they sold the majority of their land, but remained living on 2 acres of the ranch.
They lived there until 2014.
Bernard was a veteran of World War II; and a proud member of the American Legion.
Bernard is survived by his wife of 71 years Betty Scott; three children, Ladon Ough of Prineville
Oregon, NayDean (Wayne) Mesplie of Toppenish Washington, and Bernard Scott Jr of Yakima,
Washington; five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Richard Scott,
sister, Mary Palmer, sister Helen (Don) Boyle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin sister Bernice Slyter; his sister Ruth Burton; son in law Rod
Ough; sister-in-law Jean Scott; and 3 brothers in law, Clark Slyter, Roy Burton, and James Palmer.
The Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 16th, 2015 at l0:00 a.m. at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato, Washington. Interment will follow at the Reservation Community Memorial Cemetery. Merritt Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
