William Robert Gormley

He was preceded in death by his parents Amy P. Wiggins & Wm. A. Gormley; grandparents Lida Belle & Wm. D. Gormley and Sara Lamar & Joseph Henry Padgett Jr.; former wife Harriett L. Gormley; wife Margaret P. Gormley; and great-granddaughters Sarah H. & Faith E. Foxwell.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son Wm. Gormley (Susan) of Ca.; daughters Roberta Wechsler of Md., Barbara Houchen (Paul) of Md. and Debra Burton (Charles) of Tn.; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; many cousins and friends; and special lifelong friend Norma Laurie.

Bob was born in Washington D.C. on April 8, 1927. He retired from the Smithsonian Institution as a Sheet Metal Master. He loved NASCAR, crabbing, playing pool, telling stories and the “Grove” in Benedict.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on July 25, 2015 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md. Those attending the graveside service should meet at Robert Evans Funeral Home in Bowie, Md. at 10:15 am for the procession.
