Born December 23, 1926 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Myles Dewey Torreyson and Mary Lauretta Keehan Torreyson. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Hibbits and Alice Marie Torreyson, his daughter, Teresa McKinney Grill and son-in-laws, Steve McKinney and William Grill.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Elizabeth Lee Tolson Torreyson and his children, Laurence Michael Torreyson (Teresa), Patricia Ann Perkins (Gary), Daniel Thomas Torreyson (Melinda), Kevin Anthony Torreyson (Patricia); eight grandchildren, Sean Perkins (Andrea), Jason Perkins (Lesley), Michael Torreyson (Angie), Shelly Reinke (Daren), Thomas Torreyson (Maysaa), Christopher McKinney (Adriane) Stacy O’Donnell (John), and Jimmy Grill (Jessica); and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and employed with the Defense Mapping Agency (Army Map Service) as a lithograph pressman and also worked part-time at Meenehan’s Hardware Store.
Myles grew up in Georgetown, Washington, DC and lived in Oxon Hill, Waldorf, and Prince Frederick, MD.
Visitation and Mass will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians in Waldorf, MD on July 31, 2023 beginning at 11:00am. He will be buried at the Veteran’s Cemetery (Cheltenham) July 31, 2023
