Hazel Eloise Sykes

Eloise was born in West Union, West VA on 10/26/1927 to Avery Cline Pierce and Edith Opal (Jones) Pierce. She was raised in Parkersburg, West VA until the age of 13. When after her fathers death her mother moved the family to Washington DC on 7/6/1946 she married Leroy F. Sykes, a WWII POW in Parkland, MD. She was a devoted wife until Roy's death in 1968. She was a loving mother to her 4 children and adored by her grandchildren & great grand children. Eloise enjoyed being a homemaker, sewing, doing jig saw puzzles, & shopping. She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Matthews Sellers (Dale) of Clinton, MD. Leroy L. Sykes (Kevin Hagan) of Seattle, WA. Lorraine Gildenhorn (Martin) of Olney, MD and Karen Baker (Les) of Beavercreek, OH. 8 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Carl E. Maske, her husband, her long time companion of 30 years Warren Lee & siblings. Eloise requested no service & private cremation. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Eloise's name to the Disabled American Veterans or a charity of your choice.
