Edward was born November 10, 1952 in NE Washington D.C. to the late Dorothea Barnes and Preston Alston. He was raised by the late Louise and Joshua Barnes. He was predeceased in death by three brothers Mark Barnes, Franshontay Barnes, James Barnes and one sister LaRita Glevings.
Edward’s first Holy Communion was June 26, 1963 and he was baptized on June 25, 1965. He graduated from Mackin Catholic High School in 1972. He was a member of St Bennedict the Moor in NE D.C. and Assumption Church in SW D.C. He moved his membership to St Peter’s Catholic Church of Waldorf Md in December of 2005. Edward was employed by the United States Government- Office of Personal Management for 39 years before retiring in October 2012.
Edward leaves to cherish his memories beloved wife Terri and daughter Armoni of Waldorf Md two sisters Dr. Robbin Alston of Philadelphia and Regina Kirby of Forestville Md. Two brothers Thomas Barnes of Bowie Md, Cleveland Washington Jr. of Suitland MD, and God son/cousin Alvin Barnes.
Edward also leaves to cherish his memories a circle of brothers, friends, and God daughters who were near and very dear to his heart: Curtis & Tassie(mom) Bullock, Maurice & Paula Duckett, Larry & Tammie Mudd, Clifford & Brenda Mosely, Octavio Baez, Gerald Peteet, Arnitra Duckett, Tara Burnett, Asha Gillus, Lashawn Moore, Chrishawn Moore and Antoinette “Toni” Campbell and a host of nieces ,nephews and friends.
A visitation will be held at the Huntt Funeral Home Waldorf, Maryland on Thursday October 2, 2014 from 5 to 8pm. A mass of christian burial will be held at St.Peter's Catholic Church on Friday October 3, 2014 at 10am. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens Waldorf, Maryland.
