Ada is survived by her devoted husband Retired Gunnery Sergeant Bruce F. Van Horn, Son Brent F. Van Horn and wife Alana Van Horn of Lusby, MD.
Ada Jane was born December 27, 1940 in Oakland, MD. She was the youngest of 5 brothers and sister. She grew up near Deep Creek Lake on a large working farm. She moved to the big city of Washington, DC, where she would meet the love of her life Bruce. Their meeting would begin her greatest adventure the United State’s Marine Corp. and having her only son Brent F. Van Horn.
Ada and Bruce travelled to many USMC deployments including Marine Corp. Headquarters Henderson Hall, Camp Pendleton in California, Subic Bay and Clark Air Base in the Philippine’s and Joint Base Bolling in DC. Bruce retired from USMC to Waldorf, MD. Ada had various jobs such as Punch card computer data processing clerk. She had a successful career at the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO), where she retired. Ada was very artistic throughout her life. She was a talented artist that loved to oil paint. She would cast and paint ceramics. She was a talented piano & organ player. She loved to shop. Her passion for shopping began in the Philippines where she would catch a space A plane to Hong Kong. Ada was kind, loving and supportive wife and mother.
