Mr. Warren D. Barton, age 92, of Waco, completed his earthly journey on July 8, 2011 in Waco, Texas after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12th at Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Waco with Father John Wells officiating and burial to follow in the White Rock Cemetery in Ross, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 -8:00 pm
on Monday, July 11th at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Warren was born on September 28, 1918 in Freeport, Texas to Anna Jean and Samuel Richard Barton. Warren was educated in Marlin, Texas public schools. He entered Texas A & M at age sixteen. At Texas A & M he was an outstanding student and graduated in 1939. He earned his Law Degree from the University of Texas Law School and earned a Master’s Degree from Harvard University. He was an oil and gas attorney in Midland, Texas for over thirty years and a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. Warren served in the Army during World War II as 1st Lieutenant. He crashed an airplane on the runway which ended his Army career. He was a member of Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit. Warren was Past Worshipful Master of Herring Lodge 1224 from June 1999-June 2000 where he received an endowed membership as well as the Golden Trowel Award. He was also a member of George R. Scott Sojourners, York Rite, and Scottish Rite. His hobby included a rare collection of old coins, paper money and stamps.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Margaret V. Barton of Waco; daughter, Cynthia Ann Bondeson of San Antonio; son,Randy Barton and his wife, Fran, of Houston; two grandchildren, Rebecca Springer and her husband, Paul, of Atlanta, GA; and Barton Bolfrass and wife, Sarah, of Austin and four great grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit.
