Sam Ochoa Sr., 82 of Waco, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 in the Waco VA Hospital. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday Dec. 3, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with the Rev. Deryl LeBlanc and Albert Fuentes Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 2, 5 to 7 p.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Sam Ochoa was born March 28, 1929 in Gatesville to William Ochoa and Consuelo Gonzalez Ochoa. He obtained an associate’s degree in bookkeeping from 4 C College in Waco. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was employed as a truck driver with Central Freight Lines for more than 20 years. He was a member of
American Legion Post No. 440 in Waco and the Masonic Lodge AFAM Sam married Betty Myrtle Brunson Dec 15, 1955 in Waco.
Mr. Ochoa was preceded in death by two sons, Andy Winfield (1995) and Sam Ochoa Jr. (2009); by one brother Bill Ochoa, and one sister, Lilly Chavez.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Ochoa; sons, Roy J. Winfield and his wife Ann, and David Wayne Ochoa; daughter, Peggy E. Saulter and her husband Wilburn; brothers, Ernest, Charlie, Johnny and Cecil Ochoa; sister, Sandy Gonzales all of Waco; also survived by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
