Robert John Cervenka

Rosary will be held at 9:30 and Catholic Mass will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Visitation will be prior to the rosary. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in West, Texas. Pallbearers will be Roger Metcalf, Sr., Ryan Metcalf, Carlton Karlik, Bernie Lenart, Chuck Ramm, and Danny Wright.

Robert Cervenka was born in the town of West, Texas on October 3, 1923 to Robert Cervenka and Emilie Mynar Cervenka. After graduating from West High School in 1941, he entered the United States Coast Guard on February 13, 1943 and was on active duty until March 9, 1946. He began work at Waco Chevrolet as an automobile salesman in Waco, Texas shortly after returning from active duty. He later ran his own successful automobile business in Waco for over 50 years.

He married Georgia Lucille Ferguson on October 3, 1949. They had two children, Robert Edward Cervenka and Linda Susan Cervenka. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to fish, garden, watch football, and always loved the spring of the year. He was a member of Saint Louis Catholic Church in Waco, Texas, SPJST, Knights of Columbus, and VFW Post 4819 in West, Texas.

Robert John Cervenka was preceded in death by his father, Robert Cervenka; his mother, Emilie Cervenka; his brothers, Method Stanislav Cervenka, Edward Lee Cervenka, Raymond Cervenka; and sister Lilian Nemecek.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of 68 years; and children: Robert Edward Cervenka and wife Felica, Linda Susan Metcalf and husband Roger, and grandchildren: Roger Dale Metcalf, Jr., Ryan David Metcalf, Kelli Anne Fishbaugh and husband Nick, Hannah Kubacak and husband Collin, and Rachel Roquemore.
