Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 10:00a.m., August 13, Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Benjamin Magnaye officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, 6 to 8:00 p.m., August 12, Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Mary was born October 18, 1932 in Waco, Texas to Arnulfo and Juanita (Garcia) Cervantez. She attended Waco schools. September 9th, 1951, she married the love of her life Guadalupe Tovar, Sr. Mary was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was very active with various church groups including: Apostleship of Prayer, Our Lady of Guadalupe Society, Eucharist Minister and a Lector. She was awarded the Lumen Gentium in 2006 by Bishop Aymond, Diocese of Austin and the Pathfinder Award by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Mary owned and operated L&M Gifts and Flowers for over 35 years.
Mary’s favorite thing to do was working and serving her beloved Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Other things she enjoyed, was family gatherings and all the various holidays. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include her husband of over 63 years, Guadalupe Tovar, Sr.; sons, Guadalupe Tovar, Jr. and wife Margaret, Phillip Andrew Tovar and wife Anne, Eric Tovar and wife Nichole; daughters, Angelita Torres and husband Rodolfo and Maria Rosario Nemitz and husband Scott; grandsons, Richard Dimas, Jr., Joseph Dimas, Sr. and wife Laura, Jacob Torres, Grant Tovar and wife Stefani and Michael Tovar; granddaughters, Mary Ann Pedersen and husband Soren, Lauren Tovar, Olivia Tovar and Kristina Lee and husband Justin. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, King Dimas, Joseph Dimas, Jr., Sebastiana Dimas, Maria Dimas, Adelina Dimas, Kain Lee, Iben Pedersen and Hunter Tovar; siblings Emilio Cervantez and Juanita Sepulveda and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful staff of Providence Hospice Place for the loving care they provided to our Mom.
