Graveside services will be on Wednesday at 11am at Waco Memorial Park. Chris Johnson of Chalk Bluff Baptist Church will be officiating.
Johnnie was born in Groesbeck, Texas on January 4, 1917 to Virginia and Stuman Sauls. He was one of the youngest of 10 children and was the last living of his siblings. He moved to Waco during World War II to serve in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Johnnie owned and operated Equipment Service Company in Waco for many years. He installed service station equipment. He loved to spend time at the lake fishing, was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed spending time with his dogs, JR and Sister.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleo Sauls; son, Johnnie Ray Sauls; and grandson, Bobby Lee Sauls.
Johnnie is survived by his wife, Wanda Sauls; Daughter in Law, Barbara Sauls; Step Daughters, Debbie Henson and husband Raymond, Mitzi Laird and husband Ronnie; grandchildren, Terry Sauls and wife Denisha, Gary Sauls and wife Gayla, Larry Sauls and wife Lissa, Sherri Christensen and husband Paul, Amy Weber and husband Tyler, Justin Henson and wife Hillary, Mark Laird, and Jenna Laird; 17 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Johnnie was cared for in his last years by his loving wife Wanda, and caregivers David Hill and Debra Vernon. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Providence Hospice Nurses, Michelle, Amanda, and Sharon. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Providence Hospice.
