Jean went to be reunited with her family and friends in the arms of The Lord on February 11, 2014. She was born to Robert Ross Moon and Allie Downer (Eastwood) Moon in her family’s home in Ponder, Texas. The Moon family worked the land, and it was there that Jean, and her two brothers and four sisters, were instilled with a strong work ethic and devotion to family.
On February 22, 1958 Jean married James “Jay” Williams, a union that would last until his death on September 26, 1987. Jean and Jay had two children: James “Randy” Williams (born October 2, 1959) and Donna Jean Williams (born June 2, 1961). The Williams lived in several Texas’ cities, including Dallas, Houston, and Waco; as well as Denver, Colorado.
It was in Sulphur Springs, Texas that Jean found her true calling in life and became a nurse. With the exception of her devotion to her family, Jean’s greatest joy was giving relief to others in her daily duties as a nurse.
Jean’s family began to expand with the arrival of her grandson, James “Chris” Rodriguez, on December 19, 1980; his sister, Apryle Jean Rodriguez followed on March 1, 1985. After a lull in the expansion, Delaney Adele Williams was added to the clan on October 14, 1999. James Colton Williams, born September 15, 2004, soon joined the circle. Great grandchildren, Audree Emma and Ashlyn Elizabeth Buechel, rounded out the family in 2008 and 2010. Jean sprinkled love and affection on all these “prizes” for the rest of her days.
A visitation will be held at Connally Compton Funeral Home on February 16, 2014 from 3:00-5:00 where friends and family can gather and rejoice in Jean’s life. The funeral will be officiated by Randy and Sandra Smith at Connally Compton at 10 a.m. on Monday with the burial immediately following at Waco Memorial Park.
Arrangements under the direction of Connally-Compton Funeral Directors, Waco, TX.
