Mr. Fay Gwin, age 93, of Waco, died on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at his home in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 27, at 10 AM at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Curt Kruschwitz officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park in Waco. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, July 26, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Mr. Gwin was born on Jan. 18, 1918 to R. L. and Adar (Dawson) Gwin in Summerfield, Oklahoma. He served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Gwin married Bessie Brown 1957, who preceded him in death in 1997. He worked for Austin Bridge and Road Construction in Dallas for 30 years as a Crane Operator and was involved in the construction project at Navarro Mills Dam near Dawson and also worked at the spillway in Bardwell, Texas and also built numerous bridges in Texas and Oklahoma. Then after he retired, he worked for Brown Hardware in Waco, Texas.
Mr. Gwin was preceded in death by his parents, R. L. and Adar Gwin; first wife, Alda (Fulks) Gwin; sons, Harold E. Gwin and Ronnie J. Gwin; sister, Nellie Davis; brothers, Johnny Gwin and Dan Gwin.
Left to cherish his memories are his: daughters, Mary Fay Cantrell of Carlsbad, NM, Betty Fay Stubbs of Mexico, Carol Ann Butler of Paris, TX and Judy Faye Williams and husband, Steve, of Honey Grove, TX; sons, James H. Gwin and wife, Judy, Laguna Park, Michael J. Gwin of Waco, Johny Richard Gwin and wife, Nancy, of Arthur City, Larry Dean Gwin and wife, Regina, of Lubbock, James V. Gwin of Waco, and Phillip L. Gwin and wife, Lisa, of San Antonio; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Lilly Crims and Ida Clough of Oklahoma;
