Sara Hyatt Greene Rimer, 82, of Lexington, South Carolina peacefully passed away on February 22, 2023. She was born in Lee County, South Carolina to Maggie Bennett and Shelton Hyatt on September 29, 1940.
Sara is survived by her “honey”, Tom Grubbs; her children, Audrey Craft (Waldo Buff), Cindy Livingston and Travis Greene (Leslie); her brother, Robert Hyatt (Ellen) and her lifelong friends, Becky and Phil Davis (who called her “Mama Sara”) and Donna Seigler. She was rewarded with 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Sara joins her parents, Maggie Bennett and Shelton Hyatt; son, Timothy Greene; brother, Charles Hyatt; husband, Rhonda Greene; great grandchildren, Trevor Long and Brier Hudson and great-great-grandchild, Madelyn Powell who are all in heaven.
Sara owned Greene’s Open Air Market in Lexington, SC from the early 1960s to mid-1970s. She then went to work at Dutch Fork High School, from where she retired. Sara lived her life with honesty, love, and strong values. She looked forward to visiting her children and grandchildren, as they were the light of her life. Her family was a very important part of her life, and she took great pride in expressing that. She enjoyed camping, spending time with loved ones, going to auctions, working in her yard and going out to eat. Sara had a very memorable life full of love and laughter. She will never, ever be forgotten.
Sara was our rock that held our family together. She was immensely loved and respected by others. She taught us unconditional love and she will forever be in our hearts. Sara will be deeply missed by her friends and family, and we will forever honor her memory.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, with interment to follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Rev. Bill Harmon will officiate.
The pallbearers will be Steven Hudson, Tyler Greene, Hunter Powell, John Paul Kegley, Kyle Livingston, Chase Covan, Rusty Covan and Trey Talbert.
