WEST COLUMBIA - A Celebration service for Dorothy Langford Stanley will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church, Cayce, South Carolina. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary with the Celebration service starting at 2:00 pm, immediately followed by a graveside service at Southland Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joy I Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Stanley, loving widow of Earl Stanley, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Born in Jasper County, Ridgeland, South Carolina, November 21, 1930 and was the daughter of the late James Murrell Langford and Mamie Louise Freeman Langford. She was a charter member of the Trinity Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy I Sunday School Class, served as Chairman of the Prayer Committee in her class, took part in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry of Trinity, a Prayer Warrior in the furnace room during worship service on her designated Sunday, a member of Joy Club and also volunteered her time in the Church Office. She retired from the US Government in 1985 serving over 36 years. She and her loving husband, Earl, were married on December 17, 1949 and spent 50 wonderful happy years together until the Lord took him home on Christmas day, December 25, 1999.
Surviving are daughters, Rhonda Hooker (Harry) of Waynesville, NC, Jennifer Thompson (Robert) of Lexington, SC; sons, David (Kim) of Columbia, SC, Bruce (Cynthia) of Irmo, SC; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and six brothers. Mrs. Stanley was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and touched so many hearts and lives throughout the years. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Trinity Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
