Paula Elaine Christy

Paula Elaine Christy of Visalia, California passed away on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024 at Kaweah Delta Hospital at the age of 73. Paula was born in Woodlake on September, 5th, 1950 to her loving parents Robert “Bob” and Billie Lawrence.

Paula’s family was rooted in the Central Valley and ventured to Southern California where she attended and graduated high school in 1968 at John F. Kennedy High School in Buena Park California . She met her husband Richard “Dick” Christy, and they were married in Las Vegas on August, 29th, 1969. Paula and Dick moved back to the Central Valley in 1989 to their ranch in Exeter, California to grow and raise their family.

Paula worked for Southern California Edison and the Tulare County Child Support Division before retiring. As a family they enjoyed the ranch life from farming, classic cars and raising animals. Paula and Dick raised their daughters Kerrin and Emma together until Dick’s passing in 2014. Even after the loss of her husband, Paula continued to pursue life with passion, dignity and grace, she kept a pristine garden, loved shopping, collecting antiques, traveling, spending time with friends and family. She found love and companionship with Oscar “Ozzie” Berglund, they enjoyed life, love, family and dining and traveling together until her last day here on this Earth.

Paula is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Billie Lawrence, her husband Richard “Dick” Christy, she is survived by her daughters Kerrin Magdaleno (Nick) and Emma Lowe, her beloved cats Oliver, Jake, Jasper, Momma Kitty, and granddaughters Caylie, Alexie, and Chloie Duncan.

Services will be held on February 1st, 2024 at 10AM at Miller Memorial Chapel 1120 W. Goshen Ave Visalia, California with Graveside to follow at Visalia Cemetery. Per Paula’s wishes in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Project Survival Cat Haven or St. Jude Research Hospital.
