Marvello Steelman of Visalia, California passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the age 85. Marvello was born in Turlock, CA on November 10, 1935 to parents, Margaret Postama and Cavello Ones Hubble. The Hubbles settled in Tulare where Marvello graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Douglas Lee Steelman, in October of that same year, and they were married for 56 years until his passing in 2009. They spent their first years of marriage with the U.S. Navy SeaBee’s in Guam, where their first daughter was born. Once returning to the states and having two more children in less than three years, Marvello found her days very busy caring for her family. She was active in the PTA and was quite the seamstress, sewing most of her children’s clothes. After many years as a stay-at-home mom, she started to work part time as a secretary at McGraw Edison, and then later as a secretary for Dr. Price Optometry. Marvello and her husband Doug loved to travel by fifth wheel, and they enjoyed many trips traveling around to different places with their friends, including an annual trip to spend a month at Klamath River. They often teased that they were considered “fog birds” traveling to Arizona to escape the valley fog as opposed to the regular snowbirds that would flee their states due to the snow. Marvello spent her free time watching NASCAR and her daily stories, and she loved getting together with her Bunco friends; Sue, Jan, Tammy, Debbie and Jeri. She volunteered at her church preparing meals and putting together supplies for children in need. She loved cookies and coffee, and most of all she just loved being with her family. She had an amazing laugh, and a voice that made your heart smile. She will be missed dearly.
Marvello is survived by daughters Kim (Tim) Skala, Cindy Irby, son Dirk Steelman and daughter-in-law Robin Steelman; grandchildren Amy (Keith) Charles, Douglas (Taryn) Irby, T.J. (Krystle) Skala and Dirk Steelman; as well as great-grandchildren Kyler, Addyson, Kamryn, and Lucy.
