Marilyn Jane Kilgore

Marilyn Jane (Maxwell) Kilgore was born June 13, 1949 and at the age of 73 passed away peacefully on June 9, 2023. Marilyn had a great childhood in Ivanhoe, CA. She attended and graduated 8th grade from Ivanhoe School, where her father was the principal. She graduated from Redwood High School in 1967. She then proceeded to graduate Salvatores Beauty College in Modesto when she was 19 years old. On August 22, 1970 she married C. Leroy (Doc) Kilgore in Las Vegas. They then made a home together in Visalia, CA. They were married for 47 years before Leroy proceeded her in death in 2017.

Marilyn worked at Ignacio’s Beauty Salon and Security Title Ins. Eventually she began working for Visalia Unified School district and retired from food service after 27 years.

Marilyn had a love for family and anything that had to do with water. She also enjoyed riding her ATV’s. She was active in her daughters Girl Scouts and her son’s Boy Scouts. She loved sewing and camping from the time she was young. Above all, she enjoyed anytime she could be with her family, whom she loved dearly.

Marilyn leaves behind two sons Barry and Shawn Kilgore and daughter Denise (Kilgore) Zachary. Barry Kilgore of Sweet Home Oregon, grand-daughter Candace and her son. Daughter, Denise of Visalia, California with her husband Dwain Zachary, Jr, their children, Mitchell Maness, Matthew Maness, and Landan Zachary. Her son Shawn Kilgore of Visalia, California; her nieces and nephews, Steve Maxwell, Karey Macauley, and her great nephew Zachary Maxwell.

She was proceeded in death by her only brother, Ken Maxwell, her parents Gene and Lysetta Maxwell, twin grandsons Brandon and Braden Zachary and her beloved husband Leroy Kilgore.
