Born in 1931 in Reynosa Tamps, Mexico, Maria was the daughter of Antonio Munguia and Concepcion Pulido. On July 5, 1948, she met and married the love of her life, Jose Sahagun and together began their journey through 66 years of blessed marriage. Moving to Woodlake in 1963, they made a home and raised 13 children.
Maria worked at Golden State Packers for 14 years, and she was also a devoted member of Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic church for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one son, Pepe Sahagun and granddaughter, Samantha Sahagun.
Maria is survived by her husband, Jose Sahagun; three sisters, Guadalupe Munguia of Woodlake, Rebecca Paz and Hermenegilda Leal, both of Texas; twelve children, Hector Sahagun and wife, Blanca, Lupe Martinez, Mary Onsurez and husband, Oscar, Noelia Sahagun and companion, Juan, Raul Sahagun, Virginia Person and husband, Kelly, Herminia Valdez and husband, Roy, Leticia Franco and husband, Randy, Juan Sahagun and wife, Rita, Xavier Sahagun and wife, Adriana, Becky Sahagun, Richard Sahagun and wife, Kristy. She is also survived by 43 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren.
Maria will be remembered most for her tireless devotion to her family. She was a generous, kind-hearted mother who enjoyed every moment of life, selflessly giving to friends and family alike.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 3 -5:30 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel of Woodlake. Rosary will be prayed at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of Woodlake on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 9 am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Woodlake District Cemetery.
