Janice Louise Morgan was born September 5, 1956 in Visalia, California to parents Inez Finch Morgan Bassett and Robert “Bob” Morgan. She is survived by her five children, Jamie (Mike) Shuffield, Joshua (Jami) Jump, Jennifer (Christopher) Contreras, Kayla (Adam) Sukert and Kyndal (John) Korsgaden; 11 grandchildren; her siblings Angie (Hal) Carter, Patty (David, decd.) Redwine, Steve (Yvonne) Prendergast; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, father, and sister, Linda Pierce.
In 1974 Jan married James Jump (since divorced) with whom she had Jamie, Joshua and Jennifer. She later married Donald Kennedy in 1983 (since divorced) with whom she had Kayla and Kyndal.
Surrounded by her family, Jan went to be with the Lord, her parents, beloved family members and cherished pets on December 15, 2019 in Visalia, California at the age of 63. Jan was known to her loved ones as an avid gardener, crocheter, quilter, and baker. Her children remember fond memories of being in the kitchen baking cookies, cooking hamburger stew and in the garden picking okra and zucchini with her; their favorite memories include family camping trips to Huntington, Edison and Shaver lakes and they cherish their homemade Christmas stockings and quilts Jan poured her love for them into. For those who know Jan, they know that she loved elephants and had an ever-growing collection of figurines which her children and grandchildren enjoyed counting and playing with over the years.
With five children at home, Jan was a dedicated stay-at-home-mom for many years. When her children were old enough, she got her real estate license and became a Broker for Coldwell Banker. Following real estate she started her own spice distribution business, “Elephant Distributing”, and soon after moving from Tulare to Visalia, Jan began working for the Tulare County District Attorney’s office. After 15+ years with the D.A.’s office, Jan retired in 2017, but her proudest accomplishment was raising her five children and seeing them married to their spouses and creating their own beautiful families.
A Memorial Service will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia, CA 93291 on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
