Gareth "Gary" Arthur Jones

Gareth (Gary) A. Jones, age 79 years, was born in Visalia, CA, on February 03, 1942, and remained a lifelong resident of Tulare County. He passed away on January 4, 2022, in Visalia, CA, following a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Prior to his retirement, he was the owner-operator of Jones Farming. He farmed and managed trees and vines, in particular stone fruit, citrus, nuts, and commercial tree pruning. For many years, he was an active member of Visalia Elks, Woodlake Lions Club, and volunteered at California Farm Equipment Show, now known as World Ag Expo. He loved rodeo, NASCAR, fishing, was an avid deer and bird hunter, and he had a passion for sporting clay. He served in the California National Guard for six years.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Jones and Bertha Moore Jones. Survivors include his wife, Elena Jones of Visalia; his son, Christopher Jones of Portland OR; his daughter, Wendy Penberthy of Valencia CA; his brother, Terry Jones of Fresno CA; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-children, Rita Giannini, Jeff Marquez, and Laurence Marquez; and seven step-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and management of Casa Grande Senior Care for the compassionate care given to Mr. Jones during the past five years; and to Bristol Hospice, for the palliative care provided during the past year.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Visalia Public Cemetery District 1300 West Goshen Avenue, Visalia, CA.
