Elizabeth Ann Garcia

As the matriarch of the family, Elizabeth Ann Damann Garcia impacted the lives of not only her husband, children, and grandchildren, but also her great-grandchildren. While known to most as Liz, to her family, she was referred to by a variety of names. Her husband lovingly called her Lizzy and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her BB and Gigi, respectfully. Liz lit up any room she walked in with her warm, welcoming, and loving spirit.

Professionally, Liz was a very proud and sought after wallpaper contractor for over 20 years here in Tulare County, with clients ranging up and down California. She was a perfectionist when it came to her art and it truly showed in every job she did.

While Liz stood strong in her beliefs—unafraid to voice her opinion—there wasn’t a person in the world she would not offer to help. Whether it was offering her home as a fun and safe place for her children and their friends to gather, to helping those in need, her generous heart never ceased to provide. As Liz spent her final days with her family, a man in need made his regular visit to her home both to check and see if Liz was doing well, while simultaneously hoping there was a sandwich waiting for him, as she would regularly have one ready for him.

Liz and her family settled in Visalia, California after having moved various times in her younger years. It was in this quaint home where some of the best memories were made as her family gathered for holidays and various celebrations. While Liz’s cozy home appeared to get smaller as her family grew, the love she had toward her family grew increasingly larger.

Liz always made it her priority to spend time with her grandchildren, attending their events and spoiling them any chance she could. Within recent years, she spent every Thursday spoiling and loving on her great-grandson, Edwin. The both of them were inseparable and had a relationship to be envious of. Next to spending quality time with her family, Liz enjoyed her routinely scheduled hair and nail appointments, maintaining the freshest manicure into her final days.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Val Garcia of 45 years, children Tammie (Joseph) Plazola, Michelle Avila, and Phillip Garcia. Her grandchildren Chelsee Bznuni, Vanessa Johnston, Reece Plazola, Ryleigh Plazola, and Amber Caldera. Great-grandchildren Edwin & Alexander Bznuni, Kimberly Young, Leah & Alexys Rogers, and Baby Johnston, whom is on his way. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Julius & Meta Damann.

The amount of gratitude and respect Liz showed to others throughout her life will be something her family will strive to meet for their years to come.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Visalia Rawhide Hall of Fame Club on Saturday, November 13th from 3-5 pm to honor Elizabeth and everything she brought to this world.
