Donald DeLoach Lynch, 79, of Visalia went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 26, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. Don was born on December 7, 1931 in Terrell, Texas to Charles Lynch and Elizabeth Mallory Lynch. During Don’s early years his dad moved the family to California, eventually settling in Visalia. After attending College of the Sequoias, Don served in the Air Force for 2-1/2 years. Following his discharge from the service, he returned to earn his bachelor’s degree in botany at Fresno State University. While finishing school he married Anita Montague on March 29, 1958. Don is survived by his wife Anita, son Craig Lynch and Susan Nejman, daughter Kris Williams and husband Dave, brother Dan Lynch and wife Mary Lou, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alfred and Madelyn Howell, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don’s love of growing and gardening started at a young age when he learned to garden with his grandmother in Texas. He continued on with a degree in botany, work with Ralph Moore and his roses, and eventually as owner of Condit’s Flowers. He also shared his passions by teaching at College of the Sequoias. Don was an accomplished artist and a lover of classical music. He shared his strong, rich bass with many a choir over his lifetime, and he treasured the friendships he developed during his many, many years with the Visalia First Baptist/Gateway Choir.
A memorial service celebrating Don’s life with us will be held at Visalia’s Gateway Church, 1100 So. Sowell St., on Thursday, March 3, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Visalia Rescue Mission, 500 E. Race, Visalia, CA 93291 or the charity of their choice.
Condolences may be offered at www.millerchapel.com under the direction of Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia
