Mr. Hunter was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1934. Following his 1953 graduation from Wauconda High School in Illinois, he entered into a military career with the United States Navy. He retired from the United States Navy in June of 1983 after many years of honorable service. After retirement he proudly served as past president of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 99. Mr. Hunter was a member of Aerie 3204 Fraternal Order of Eagles and served as a Past Worthy President.
Family and friends were important to him. Saturday mornings he loved the time he spent with his son Thomas Jr. and friends over breakfast. He cherished animals and over the years has adopted a number of dogs that he adored and loved fiercely. He liked western movies and all types of sporting events. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, playing pool and golfing. He is predeceased by his daughter, Robin Lin Hunter and his mother, Margaret Ethel Hunter.
Mr. Hunter is survived by his two sons; Jeffery H. Hunter and Thomas L. Hunter, Jr. with his wife Cynthia L Hunter, and his father Elmer Offerman. Families are created by those closest to our hearts. He will be greatly missed by close family friends Mr. Donald Wynne, daughter Theresa M. Bognar and her husband Jim.
The family will receive friends at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home on Saturday May 12, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm. There will be a graveside service Monday May 14th, 2012 at 3pm at Rosewood Memorial Park.
Following the graveside service, the family will receive friends at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3204 at 1061 Newtown Rd, Virginia Beach Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the American Humane Society.
The family would like to express their deepest heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Donald Wynne and his daughter Theresa M. Bognar and her husband Jim for all their help and support throughout the years. You have and always will be a part of our family.
