Teresa A. Garcea, 95, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022. She died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Santander, Spain on October, 15, 1926. She is the daughter of the late Marcos and Bonifacia Abascal. She migrated to America when she was three years old and settled in Norfolk, VA. She was a strong and most Loving Mother. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lucia Cannon and sister, Josephine Desoto.
Teresa worked 23 years for Civil Service and was the assistant to Chief of Police Little Creek Base and retired . She had such a strong work ethic and loved by all she worked with.
She is survived by her four children, Maria Garcea-Wise (Richard); Mark Garcea, Rita Amorese (Arthur) and Anne Marie Yeattes (Al). Teresa was loved and adored by her five grandchildren, Sara, Mark, Michael, Catherine, Adam and five great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her cousins, Sister Ann L. Abascal , Jose Abascal and sister in-law, Elizabeth Ali.
Teresa was a devout Catholic and was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
A public visitation will be on Sunday, May 8, 2022 from 5–7 pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 11am at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA. She will be entombed in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the Memory Center for all their love and care.
