Romy, as many knew him, was born on January 18, 1939 in Parañaque, Philippines, the son of the late Julian and Alejandra Ramos.
In 1960 he enlisted in the U.S Navy and a decade later married Elena Victa of Malibay, Pasay City, PI. They were stationed in Pensacola, FL, Norfolk, VA and later settled in Virginia Beach, VA with their three children; Romel, Evangeline and Erin. He retired from the Navy after 23 years of service and then went on to work for the U.S Postal Service for 22 years, retiring in 2009.
Romy was an active parishioner with the Church of the Ascension Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Filipino American Postal Employees of Hampton Roads, Cavite Association of Tidewater and past President of the Parañaque Association of Virginia.
He was an avid tennis and basketball spectator, who loved music, crossword puzzles, traveling, eating at buffets and gathering with dear friends. He will especially be remembered for his love of crabbing at Chic’s Beach and sharing the harvest of his vegetable garden in the summertime. His love for his family, energy, kindness, and generosity were felt by all whom he met. He was a truly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His family takes great comfort in knowing that he touched the lives of so many.
