Bob was born June 11, 1938 in Cane, PA, to the late James Robert Thompson & Betty Jane Barr. He married Ruth Ann Burroughs on April 9, 1960 in Beaver Falls, PA. Bob earned an Associate Degree in Accounting, was last employed by Enterprise Rent-A-Car and was a fan of sports, especially Raiders football.
Bob served 21 and a half years in the United States Airforce, was a 32nd degree Mason, Schriner, and a member of Vietnam Veterans Association (VVA).
Bob is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Thompson; sons, Robert Leroy Thompson Jr. (Judy), Richard Alan Thompson; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two twin great-great grandchildren yet to be born.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of SVBG Hospital and Dr. Tommy Sun, primary care physician and long time friend.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Smith & Williams Funeral Home/Kempsville, 4889 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462, with a reception to follow.
