Patty Dixon McMillan Sadler passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 8, 2023. She was born August 6, 1948 in Asheboro, NC, raised in Liberty, NC and Atlanta, GA. In Atlanta, she met and married her husband of 56 years. Through all of life's ups and downs they survived with respect, appreciation, accepting each other for who they were, lots of laughter and a ton of love.
She was predeceased by her parents, Flora & Lowell McMillan; her sister Debra McMillan; brother in law NB Duncan; and her niece DeAnn Duncan Ervin.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Henry L Sadler, III; Daughters, Karen Sadler and Stacia Sadler Vernon (Steven D. Vernon, Jr); grandson Steven D. Vernon III (Trey); Her sister, Judy Duncan; Nephew, Scott Duncan (Rachel); Niece Amy Wilson (Brian); and great nephews and nieces, Cameron, Devon, Aidan, Abby and Lindsey.
In the 60's Patty started working in the travel industry and as a result, she and her family traveled extensively, especially to warm weather places. As a talented artist she also liked her quiet time to create her paintings, stained glass, planning her trips, relaxing in the sun or reading a book.
Patty was an extended mother, sister and friend to many and they all meant the world to her. She loved people and was happy to help all. Devoted and actively involved wife, mother and grandmother. She treasured spending time with her family & had a special spot in her heart for Trey. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the funeral home.
