Mary Holloman Freeman

Mary Holloman Freeman went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2011. She was the oldest daughter of the late Rev. Joseph and Mrs. Willie Blanche Holloman.
Mary was a teacher for the Portsmouth Public School System for over 30 years before retiring; and she was a current member and evangelist of Macedonia Baptist Church and formerly of Holy Light Church of Deliverance, preaching and singing in many churches in Virginia and North Carolina.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Proctor Freeman; she will be deeply missed by her cherished son, Gary Freeman and his wife, Vinniece; her granddaughter, Sariah; her siblings, Joseph Holloman, Jr. and wife Doris, Charles Holloman and wife Mary, Rita Blow, Chester Holloman and wife Audrey, Janice Saunders, Willie Eugene Holloman, Lynda Harris and husband James; and her step-children, Vanessa Ashley, Bonnie Freeman, Proctor Freeman, Jr. and wife Vickie, and Sonya Steedley and husband Nate; aunts, Naomi Sykes and husband Samuel, and Shelba Marsh; uncle John Henry Holloman and wife Ann; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at First Baptist Church of South Hill, 3633 Galberry Rd in Chesapeake. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8pm at Greater Bethel AME Church, 2320 Cedar Rd in Chesapeake.
