Obituary of Marian Wadsworth Hamlin
Marian Wadsworth Hamlin, 98 of Virginia Beach passed away on July 16, 2024, in Sentara Princess Anne Hospital. She was a resident of the Atlantic Shores retirement community and a faithful member of the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. Marian was born in Washington, DC on March 15, 1926. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Washington, DC; attended the College of William and Mary; and later in 1977 obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing from Northern Virginia Community College; and worked as a Registered Nurse at Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, VA. She was predeceased by her parents, Colonel Earl Bury (US Army Ret) and Irene S. Wadsworth, her husband Thomas Hamlin, Jr., her twin sister Muriel Wadsworth Mikula Lishnoff; and younger sister Marilyn Wadsworth Proctor. She is also survived by her children: Lee E. Hamlin (Martha) of Richmond, VA; Sandra J. Copp (Dale) of Gaithersburg, MD; Thomas Hamlin III (Darla) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Terri H. Fazio (Jeffrey) of Fairfax Station, VA; as well as eight (8) grandchildren including Molly Duncan (Bryan); Janell Caywood (Brad); Steven Copp (Melissa); Kevin Copp; Thomas Hamlin (Jennifer); Courtney Hajric (Emir); Gregory Fazio (Courtney); and Valerie Fazio; and fourteen (14) great grandchildren. Marian always loved the ocean, vacationing each year in Ocean City, MD, retiring with her husband to Bradenton, FL and later moving to Virginia Beach, VA to be closer to her sisters and family. Marian enjoyed participating in the Sweet Adelines choral group while living in Alexandria, VA; the Virginia Beach - Beach Tones chorus in Virginia Beach; and the Atlantic Shores retirement community chorus in Virginia Beach. Marian was a faithful viewer of Judge Judy on television! The family is planning a Memorial Service at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, VA in mid-September; check back for more details.
