Margurite Lynne Langlands

Margurite (Margie) Lynne Scheurich Langlands, age 51, died unexpectedly in her sleep at home on Dec. 26, 2014. Margie spent her life in Virginia Beach after moving to the area from Monterey, CA at the age of 3 with her family. She attended Trantwood Elementary and Lynnhaven Junior High School where she was a cheerleader, gymnast and honor student. She graduated from Cox High School with honors. A life-long Monarch's fan, Margie went on to graduate from Old Dominion University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. In 1989, she joined Virginia Beach Ambulatory Surgery Center as an operating room nurse where she helped doctors and patients with her efficient yet caring manner for 25 years. Margie married Peter B. Langlands Jr. in 1985 and was devoted to her family, especially her children throughout her life. Beyond her family, she was a caring friend to all who knew her.

Margie was preceded in death by her father, USN Capt. Thomas E. Scheurich, her father-in-law, Peter B. Langlands Sr., her grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles. She will be missed by her husband of 29 years, Peter B. Langlands Jr., her daughter Erin and son Peter III all of Virginia Beach, her mother Eileen Scheurich of Virginia Beach, her sister Ellen Soucy (Frank) of Blacksburg, her brother Tom Scheurich (Cindy), of Virginia Beach, her sister Marianne Lane (Bruce) of Richmond, her mother-in-law Ione Langlands, her brother-in-law Richard Langlands (Karen Kennedy), her nieces and nephews, Tom Scheurich III, Sarah Scheurich, Elizabeth Kouzel (Alex), Stephen Butler Jr. and many close friends.

Margie’s family will celebrate a Mass honoring her life at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, at Church of the Holy Family, 1279 Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Church of the Holy Family Capitol Reserve Fund.
