Marcelino, known as Mar, was born in Bacolor, Pampanga, Philippines on June 2nd, 1947, to parents Jose and Emelia Cunanan.
After working as a carpenter all over the Philippines, he met Virginia Delos Santos and they got married on June 2nd, 1968. He’s predeceased by his first eldest son, Wendell. He survived by his wife, Virginia, and children, Marcelino Jr. (Jojo) and Roda, Jorge and Fe, Wilma and Fermo, and Margie and Wilson.
He worked all his life as a master carpenter in the Philippines, Middle East, and Port Authority of Guam. He enjoyed life after retirement spending time with family between Maryland and Virginia, planting and gardening vegetables.
He and Virginia celebrated their Golden 50th Year Anniversary in 2018 with all their grandchildren; Marcelino III (Ram-Ram), Karen, Gie-Mari, Navi, Michael Jeffrey (MJ), Josephine, Joanna Joyce, Christianne, Fermo III, Charlies Wilson, Mark Wilson, and Catherine. He loved all his grandchildren and was involved in picking up the youngest kids after school.
Visitation for Marcelino E. Cunanan Sr. is planned for Saturday, November 5th 2022 and Sunday, November 6th 2022 from 3pm-7pm at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home (601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462).
Funeral will begin with a mass on November 8th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church (5345 Virginia Beach Blvd. Virginia Beach, VA 23462) and then the burial will follow immediately after at the Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home.
