Macie R. Helton

Macie Reed Helton, 92, passed away on November 27, 2011.
Mrs. Helton was born on October 17, 1919 to the late John William Barnhill and Cally Josephine Bell Barnhill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie F. Helton, Sr., and a son, Harry M. Helton.
Mrs. Helton retired as a school bus driver for the Va. Beach Public School System after thirty years of service and was one of the founders of the Va. Beach School Bus Driver Association. She was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church for sixty years where she was a former youth Sunday school teacher and member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a son, Johnny F. Helton, Jr., two granddaughters, Amy Erestain and husband, Ronnie and Lori Beth Duron and husband, Dave; six great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Brittany, Cierra and Danniel Erestain, Reese Hope and Madeline Hope Duron; a brother-in-law, Clyde R. Helton.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel where a celebration of Mrs. Helton’s life will be held on Thursday, 1:30 p.m. by The Rev. Ken Carlton. Interment will follow at Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
