Lucille Cahoon Spruill

Mrs. Spruill was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. She was born in Gum Neck, NC and graduated from Columbia High School. She served as a nurse’s aid at Columbia Hospital and drove a school bus for St. Peter’s Episcopal Church day school where she was also a member.

Mrs. Spruill loved playing golf and rarely ever missed Friday morning bingo. She never turned down an offer to go to Dover to play the slots.

Survivors include her loving husband of fifty one years Noah W. Spruill, Jr; two daughters Janet Rial and husband John of Virginia Beach, VA; Pam Housand of Chesapeake, VA; and a son Jerry Spruill and wife Vikki of Cocoa, FL; eight grandchildren Joe Guill, Luke Guill, Jennifer Donius, Jessica Spruill, Vanessa Webb, Eric Webb, Kori Spruill, Lauren Strain and five great grandchildren Isabella Guill, Cooper Guill, Holden Guill, Landen Donius and Reagan Donius.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.

A celebration of Mrs. Spruill’s life will be held on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park on N. Witchduck Road. Friends may offer condolences at www.smithandwilliamskempsville.com.
