Kathryn Ann Bateman

Kathryn W. Bateman began her new life on May 23, 2012 while surrounded by her children and pastor. She was born in Hartford City, Indiana on May 8, 1930 to the late Arthur and Violet Williams, who affectionately nicknamed her "Kitty." After moving to Norfolk, Virginia in the early 1960's, Kathy was employed with Berlin-Miles where she retired. While bowling with friends in 1996, she met the love of her life, John L. Bateman. He swept her off her feet and they were married after a brief courtship. They were devoted to each other and especially to God's ministry. They never left each other's side until John became her angel in June of 2007. Kathy is survived by her children: Linda and husband Vic, Mike and wife Carol, Pat and wife Nell, and David. She was most proud of her grandchildren: Michelle, Carly, Stephen, Alex, Katie and Mykala. A memorial service was officiated by Dr. Kenneth A. Barnes this past Friday, May 25th at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Kathy and John loved to worship the Lord with their beloved friends at Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Chesapeake. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in their parent's memory to Woodland Heights Baptist Church Building Fund located at 529 Providence Road, Chesapeake, VA 23325.
