John Calhoun Carper

John Calhoun Carper, 85, passed away on Thursday in Virginia Beach. John was born in Roanoke, VA to the late John H. and Virginia Carper. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Carper; daughter, Linda Carper; son, Wayne Carper and wife, Lindsey with their daughter, Sarah Mayo; sister, Barbara Green and husband, Mike; brothers, Larry Carper and his late wife, Cynthia and Bruce Carper, and wife, Kay; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. John was a US Army veteran and later retired as a sales representative with Randolph Bundy after 47 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family at their vacation home in the Outer Banks, golfing and gardening in his spare time. John was a member of Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church. A visitation will be from 5:30-7:30pm, Sunday at Smith and Williams Kempsville Funeral Home. There will be a funeral service at 1pm, Monday inside the Smith and Williams Kempsville chapel with burial to follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
