Obituary of Ethel Stanley Stollings
Ethel Stanley Stollings, age 91, went home to Jesus on Sunday, July 9th at Harmony Assisted Living in Virginia Beach. Born in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Turner & Minnie Stanley. Over the years she was employed by several companies. Williamson Daily News, National Bank of Commerce, General Electric, Tandy Corporation and Radio Shack. Married in 1952 to her high school sweetheart Kenneth G. Stollings. She and Ken spent 60 years happily married and created a beautiful life together until his death in 2013. They raised 3 children together. She was a loving, caring, kind and giving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother with a sweet spirit. She was a devoted and supportive wife. She moved many times over the years supporting her husband’s career. They became owners of Cardinal Sign Corporation in 1978. Ethel was strong in her faith. She loved her church (Thalia Lynn Baptist Church) and was very active in serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Committee Leader, and loved on the babies for over 25 years in the church nursery. She has been a member since 1974. Left to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Stan Stollings (Jan) and Greg Stollings (Diane); daughter, Julie Phelps (Jerry); 7 grandchildren, Christa Pickrell (Howard), Kimberly Daniels (Dave), Beth Anderson (Ryan), Amy Watson (Dave), Jason Phelps, Kevin Phelps (Melody) and Kyle Phelps (Liz); 9 great-grandchildren, Noah, Leah, Aidan, Makaiya, Isaiah, Carter, Delaney, Kenneth, Annmarie and a sister Hope Brown. A private family burial will be held at Rosewood Memorial Park on Monday, July 17th. A visitation will be held at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home 601 N. Witchduck Road on Sunday, July 16th from 1:00 – 4:00. Flowers may be sent to Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. You may offer condolences at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.
