Edward Valentine, Jr., 70 went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2012. He was born on April 11, 1942 in Ellicott City, Maryland and served his country in the U S Army. If you asked Edward what gave him the most pleasure in life he would tell you his family. He especially enjoyed hiding Easter baskets for the small grandchildren and organizing scavenger hunts for the older grandchildren. He loved the time he spent working on cars with his only grandson Jake. Edward loved to hear Shelby sing and watch Savannah dance. He enjoyed taking cruises and going on vacations with his wife and their best friends. His family dubbed Edward “jack of all trades”, he could fix anything. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, taking his boat out on the water or a good game of cards with friends and family. He also enjoyed watching westerns on TV. Edward was a marshall at Bow Creek Golf Course, and a member of USGA. He retired from PAR Technology after many years of service. Edward was preceded in death by his father, Harry E. Valentine.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted and beloved wife and best friend of 47 years, Rose A. Valentine; daughters, Tracey V. Reid and Tammy V. Lupton; mother, Alta Valentine; grandchildren, Jacob D. Reid, Shelby L. Reid, Savannah L. Lupton and Christina Reid; great granddaughter, Julia Denardo; sisters, Joyce Minnich, Claudette Diggs and Wanda Cross as well as many other loving family members and friends.
The family will receive guests Monday, April 23, 2012 from 12:30 – 2:00 pm in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
