Constance Leoci Gentile, (Connie, Babe), 88, passed away on August 28, 2014 at Tamarac, Broward County, Florida. She was born on May 17, 1926 in Astoria, New York to Donato Leoci and Margaret Barbarisi Leoci.
Connie grew up in Astoria, New York. After high school she worked for the New York Telephone Company as an Assistant Engineer, where she worked for 28 years.
Connie married Pasquale (Pat) Gentile on September 11, 1949 at Immaculate Conception Church in Astoria, Queens. They were happily married for over 50 years. Connie and Pat relocated to Albertson, New York and then retired in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Connie recently moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Connie enjoyed volunteer work and was a member of The Telephone Pioneers of America, doing charitable work for our war veterans. She also enjoyed being with her family and friends, traveling, organizing Senior trips, gardening and she was a fabulous Italian cook. She enjoyed organizing and attending her husband’s Veteran reunions each year.
Connie is survived by her sons, Patrick and Daniel (Virginia), her grandsons Daniel (Joan), David (Rosanna) and Anthony (Laurie), and her great-grandchildren, Giuseppe Pasquale, Khloe and Annabella, her siblings Catherine, Paul (Dorothy), Carmelita (William) and Daniel, and her nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Pasquale (Pat) and her brother in law Phil Borgia.
A visitation will be held at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, located at 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 6 PM to 8 PM. A Roman Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Gregory’s, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach.
