Dr. Charles M. Ewing was born March 19, 1950, in Rochester, PA to the late Charles W. Ewing and the late Mary Louise (Marshall) Ewing. He is survived by his wife Debbie (Reid) Ewing, son Alex Ewing, daughter Katie Vincent (Ryan), grandchildren River and Nora, brother J. Michael Ewing (Susan), sisters Mary Moheit (Jay) and Jane Colarossi (Rev. Jeff).
He graduated from Beaver Area High School (’68) and Geneva College (’75). He had Vietnam service with the U.S. Navy. Following a Medical Technology degree at Case Western Reserve University Hospital of Cleveland, he graduated from the Reserve Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine with surgical residency at the Podiatry Hospital of Pittsburgh. Fleeing the North with his family, a private solo practice was begun in Virginia Beach, VA.
He was active in the USS Nitro Association. He was active in the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Virginia Podiatric Medical Association, and the Tidewater Division where he was past President. He was very involved with the American Diabetes Association at the state and local levels in various offices including President. He was active in Rotary International and Princess Anne and Lynnhaven Rotary Clubs as President and Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Lost Chord Club of Tidewater and former member of the MS Society, Chapter 48 VVA.
Additional affiliations include NRA (Life Member) , Ohio Gun Collectors Association (Life Member), Pennsylvania Gun Collectors Association, Kentucky Rifle Association, Contemporary Long Rifle Association, Forks of the Delaware Historical Firearms Society, Antique Automobile Club of America, Tidewater Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA).
Following retirement he turned attention to another interest, The Civil War and Collectibles Shop.
A Visitation for Charles will be held Friday, February 17, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
A Funeral Service will occur Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 9:00 AM, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462 with a Reception to follow.
