OBITUARY
Betty Sue Crawford
20 January, 1932 – 20 May, 2020
IN THE CARE OF
Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home & Rosewood Memorial Park
Mrs. Crawford was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky and moved to Virginia Beach in 1959. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mae Waggoner and was preceded in death by her husband Fred E. Crawford, Jr.
Mrs. Crawford was a member of the Kempsville Church of Christ and joined the Eastern Star in 1950. Survivors include two sons Bruce D. Crawford and wife Cathy, Brian C. Crawford and his Lady Tara; 3 grandchildren Heather Menhennett, Nathan Crawford and Scott Crawford; and 1 great grandchild Elijah Menhennett.
She loved family history and keeping in touch with many nieces, nephews, and distant cousins. Never one to get interested in modern technology, she loved writing letters and keeping in touch with family and friends across the country. It wasn't uncommon for anyone to receive a simple birthday card with a 5 page letter.
She was extremely proud of her family's very long Masonic and Shrine heritage and unofficially served for many years as Secretary of the unofficial "Baker Road Lodge" aka Dad's detached garage where hundreds of Masons were coached through the degrees. Truth be told, she just liked him out in the garage for all that time so she could have some peace and quiet especially after he retired.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 11:00 at Rosewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Khedive Shrine Transportation Fund 645 Woodlake Drive Chesapeake VA 23320. This cause was near and dear to her heart for many years.
