Aubrey D. Lister

Aubrey D. Lister, 67, also known to many as “Dad L” went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2011. He was born on August 26, 1943 in Norfolk, Virginia. Aubrey served his country for two years during the Vietnam Conflict in the United States Army. After returning home from Vietnam, Aubrey went back to work in his family’s business, Woodbine Farm and worked there continually until December 23, 2010. Aubrey was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America from 1979 until his passing and earned the Wood Badge. He was co-founder of the Tasty Critters and was an instructor for the ODU Outdoor Education Program from 1989 through 1998. Aubrey was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter V0969. He was preceded in death by his father, Julius E. Lister, Sr.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 48 years, Jeannette Lister; children, Stephen D. Lister (Jaime) and Kelley B. McWhorter (David); mother, Margaret E. Lister; grandchildren, Coriann E. and Samuel D. Lister and Kayla M. and Morgan T. McWhorter; special daughters, Tammy E. Lister and Diane M. Schmoll; brothers Julius E. “Buddy” Lister, Jr., Richard W. Lister and Ray W. Lister and sister, Margaret J. “Maggie” Cuffe.
A celebration of Aubrey’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 7:00 PM in Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research, 5700 Cleveland Street, Suite 325, Virginia Beach, Virginia
