Obituary of Arthur Harold Rahmer
Arthur H. Rahmer Virginia Beach, VA, a former 50 year Lake Katrine, NY resident passed away peacefully after a short illness. Born Easter Sunday, April 12, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY to George Rahmer and Clara (Dolecal) Rahmer. He graduated from Bayside High School and served as a Fire Control Technician on USS Hyman, DD-732. Following his enlistment he settled in Oceanside, NY and was a volunteer firefighter serving in Columbia Engine Company #1. He relocated to Lake Katrine in 1971 and was employed by Ronson Piano Hammer, Hucktrol and IBM. Throughout his life he was passionate about maritime affairs. In 2015 he became a Golden Life member of the U.S. Naval Institute signifying 50 years of membership. In 2021 he relocated to Virginia Beach. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Walter, Eugene and George. He is survived by his sister Karen (Spiotta), his wife of 59 years, Rosemary, his sons Richard Rahmer of Virginia Beach; Captain David Rahmer, USN Ret, wife Jessica, granddaughter Alexandra of Collinsville, IL. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Destroyer Escort Historical Museum.
