Leon John Simon Jr., age 64, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Leon was born in Sulphur, Louisiana on May 11, 1958 to Francis Mills and Leon Simon Sr.. He worked most of his life as a derrick hand on oil rigs and as a welder/machinist at the shipyard.
"Big John" was a simple country boy with a big heart, who loved to fish. He enjoyed music and anything pertaining to music, especially playing the drums with his band.
Leon was preceded in death by his father Leon Simon Sr..
Those left to cherish his memory are, son, John Kirk Simon of Sulphur, LA; daughter, Britni Alene Simon of Sinton, TX; mother, Francis Mills of Vinton, LA; brother, Adles Simon of Hackberry, LA; and sisters, Sandra Manning of San Antonio, TX; Alene Rowell of Winnfield, LA; Sabrina Mathews and Sharen LeJeune, both of Vinton, LA. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Nevaeh Faith, John Adles, Adles John, Rylan Lopez, Amedon Lopez, Elizar Lopez, Amethyst Lopez; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Cremation has been entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton with a memorial celebration being held by the family at a later time.
