Gloria Lanelle Stine, 84, of Vinton, Louisiana, faded into her eternal rest on Saturday, December 9, 2023, in Sulphur. Gloria was born June 20, 1939 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and she was a lifelong resident of Vinton. She will be fondly remembered by all that knew her for her unique and outspoken personality, never wavering and always willing to fight for what she believed in. Being blessed with a green thumb, she loved gardening and also enjoyed good bourbon, canning, baking and making homemade treats, such as the popcorn balls that everyone loved her to make. She was a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, as well as the Gardening Club and Catholic Daughters. Gloria was a Hairdresser, who owned her own shop for a short time, but mostly worked on and off at Harold’s Beauty Salon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Granger; her mother, Hilda Beard; her brother, Phillip Granger, and her loving husband of 45 years, Norman Leslie Stine, when he passed away in 2000.
Left to mourn her passing are 5 children, Phyllis Ayo and her husband Warren, Craig Stine and his wife, Elva, Lois Estes and her husband Jon, Leslie Yordy and her husband Junior, and Jason Stine and his fiancée, Jamie; 16 grandchildren, Shawn Braquet, Matthew Braquet, Amy Braquet, Hannah Authement, Keaton Authement, Lacey Peloquin, Samantha Dommert, Luke Stine, Corey LaBove, Garret LaBove, Karley Nunally, Katelyn LeJeune, Brett Yordy, Cale Stine, Jace Stine and Pate Stine; along with 15 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for visitation, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, December 12th, at the Hixson Funeral Home, 1420 Fancher in Vinton, where the rosary will be prayed at 6:00pm. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am on Wednesday, December 13th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1502 Industrial Street in Vinton, with Father Carlos Garcia Celebrating. Interment will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South, in Carlyss, Louisiana.
